Over the past two years, we have had the privilege of being involved in a very special project for Albert Hoffmann GmbH, which was successfully completed with the commissioning of the entire plant at Hellik Teigen in March this year.
The complete drive system supplied by EMZ – comprising a 3000 HP shredder motor and a specially designed frequency converter – was specifically tailored to the demanding requirements of this application and the Albert Hoffmann GmbH shredder, and sets new standards in terms of efficiency and performance.
The squirrel-cage motor from EMZ’s proven Heavy-Duty Range is designed to withstand high, intermittent overloads as well as massive vibrations and axial loads during the shredding process. In combination with the efficient medium-voltage frequency converter, this not only enables a grid-friendly start-up and various speed operating points but also limits current peaks during operation quickly and cost-effectively. At the same time, the shredder’s speed is kept constant, ensuring a steady material flow and optimum utilisation of the entire plant.
