In January 2025, EMZ delivered a 4,150 kW slip ring motor for a cement mill application in Central Asia.
The motor was equipped with numerous options: In addition to vibration monitoring at both bearing locations and current transformers in a separate star point terminal box, the motor has a stand-alone thermostat control for cooling the slip ring chamber.
The combination of PT100 temperature sensors, EMK frequency converters, external fan and standstill heating ensures a constantly optimal temperature in the slip ring chamber – for minimal carbon brush wear and maximum operational reliability.
In addition, the motor is 100% mechanically and electrically interchangeable with the existing drive of the system. This enables quick replacement with minimal downtime and contributes to extending the service life of the entire system.
